Košice will be all about minifootball in the first week of November.
However, if you haven’t been to Košice yet or are considering whether it’s worth coming to watch the games, there are certainly more reasons than just our championship.
Košice is a beautiful historical city full of tourist spots, so we bring you a short list of attractions you should definitely not miss. You’ll be able to visit most of them between the games, so it’s a double win.
Walk around the city centre
Experience authentic Košice through the eyes of the locals. Walk a few circuits of the Main Street, visit the Old World market in Dominican Square, and enjoy lunch in a Slovak, Hungarian or Jewish restaurant.
On the square or in the adjacent streets you can find several pleasant cafes and wine bars where you can relax and enjoy the atmosphere of the city.
If you prefer an organised guided tour, there are several themed tours to choose from.
St. Elizabeth Cathedral
The easternmost Gothic cathedral in Europe, the largest cathedral in Slovakia and, last but not least, the pride of the city of Košice.
It is a landmark of the city, which is on every postcard or photo of the city. Its size and pomposity will surely amaze you.
Košice Castle and the Observation Tower
If you’ve had enough of the city atmosphere, hop on a bus and take a few stops to Košice Castle. You’ll enjoy a fascinating tour of the castle ruins, see medieval costumes, weapons and period architecture. Children can shoot their bows.
You will end your pleasant walk through the forest at the Lookout Tower, under which the entire Košice Basin will open up to you.
K13 – Košice Culture Centres
The project K13 – Košice Cultural Centres is a combination of several cities and all kinds of art. Exhibitions, concerts, theatre performances. These are just some of the possibilities you will find under K13.
In addition to regular performances, you’ll often find modern exhibitions and performances of contemporary art, so we definitely recommend checking out their calendar.
Košice ZOO
The largest zoo in Central Europe offers a full programme for the whole family. It also includes a DinoPark.
More information about Košice Zoo can be found on their website.
There is much more. The best way to find out more is to check out the Visit Košice website, where you can find all the essential information, contacts and materials to make your visit to Košice more enjoyable.
